Your tax credit
Alberta gives you back up to 75% of your contribution as a credit on your provincial income tax. You'll get an official receipt for your return.

Credit is 75% of the first $200, 50% of the next $900 and 33⅓% of the amount over $1,100, up to a $1,000 maximum credit. It's non-refundable, so it applies against Alberta income tax you owe.
